Once a year, the team that helps Brian Addison with the publication of Longbeachize reaches out to you, our readers, to help support Longbeachize to maintain the quality of our publication in the next year. If you appreciate the work Brian does breaking news and speaking truth, please consider a tax deductible donation to Longbeachize today.
The goal of Longbeachize is to chronicle the city’s efforts to grow in a sustainable and progressive way
To note that Addison’s coverage of these issues is of the highest quality is not news. In 2015, the Los Angeles Press Club recognized Addison as the Online Journalist of the year, along with scoring four other nominations. In 2016, Longbeachize received five nominations. In 2017, Longbeachize was nominated for Best Individual Blog by the Press Club and placed second, besting Variety and sitting behind The Hollywood Reporter. But of course, he’s taken the website beyond the original vision to also cover the local food, arts, and culture scenes.
As much as he loves his work, Longbeachize isn’t a hobby; it’s a job. Sponsorship and grant agreements from Millworks, Intertrend Communications Inc., and the Long Beach Community Foundation have helped us stabilize the budget. It also allowed us to program the ongoing Emphasize talk series that included a talk by Jeff Tumlin in November and will feature an upcoming talk by Michael Lens on housing and gentrification in January.
In short, we need your help. If you appreciate the work of this reporter and editor who operates with independence and professionalism, please consider a donation to support Longbeachize today.
