Black Ring Coffee–yet another cottage business comin’ out of MADE by Millworks and becoming a full-fledged business—is officially becoming a brick-and-mortar.
The best part? They’re eschewing DTLB and Alamitos in favor of North Long Beach, setting up shop at 5373 Long Beach Blvd. inside quite possibly the perfect spot for a coffeeshop.
The Black Ring crew are not new to the scene, having slung out beans and bottled cold brews out of MADE for nearly two years—and they join a growing list of MADE-centric businesses that have found their footing through the incubator: The Pie Bar, Romeo Chocolates, Saints & Sinners Bake Shop, Stay Anchored…
While they join Commodity and Wide Eyes Open Palms as the newest additions to Long Beach’s vast coffee scene, the most important part is that they differentiate by roasting. They now sit in the ranks of Long Beach’s heavyweights when it comes to coffee: Recreational, Rose Park, and Lord Windsor.
Meanwhile, shortly after opening for lunch—sadly, only Fridays and weekends only—Beer Belly in DTLB has finished their first weekend launching brunch.
And the items live up to the restaurant’s history of providing decadent items living up to the namesake of the joint. Items include Fried Chicken and “Puffles” (brown sugar hot sauced fried chicken, puffle waffle, maple syrup, cinnamon sugar onion rings, and fresh mint), Cereal Killer French Toast (taking a cue from the Potholder down the street), Bacon’n’Cheddar Tots, and a Burrito Benny (you fill in the gaps on its cross between a burrito and eggs benedict).
Beer Belly, located at the southwest corner of 3rd and Long Beach Blvd., serves brunch on weekends from 11:30AM to 3PM.
